How Engineers Disappear Into the Twitter Collective

Earlier this year, Twitter purchased at least two companies solely for their engineering talent: blogging company Posterous and security startup Whisper Systems. In each case, Twitter wasn’t looking to buy a product or service. It was merely looking for brains. Both sets of engineers have been consumed by the Twitter collective.
