Enterprises continued to buy more storage in the second quarter despite economic woes in many parts of the world, driving total disk storage system revenue up 8.0 percent from a year earlier, according to research company IDC.
Spending on all disk storage rose to nearly $8.1 billion in the quarter, led by double-digit growth in emerging countries, IDC said. Enterprises also bought more bytes of data capacity, with shipments rising 24.8 percent from a year earlier to 6,667 petabytes.
